If you are planning a weekend to Parry Sound schedule yourself plenty of time to take in all the sights and visit all there is to do. A visitor can take in one of the many shows and entertainment at the Stockey Centre. With Parry Sounds fabulous location on Georgian Bay there is of course a whole other bundle of fun for visitors. If you are planning a visit to the town of St. Catharines be sure to schedule a stop to see the historic Welland Canal. Stretching forty two kilometres from Port Colborne on Lake Ontario to Port Weller on Lake Erie the canal allows ships to travel through by avoiding the Niagara Falls. Nearly forty million tonnes of cargo is carried through on ships annually. The canal has a total of eight lift locks and watching the gigantic cargo ships go through is definitely a site to see.
